Chapter 27
Amante sat there for a moment lost in thought. He wasn't sure if he had heard her correctly so he asked her to repeat what she just said.
“Run that back again?”
“The woman your father had an affair with is Cynthia, your biological mother.” She repeated while watching her son carefully.
“So you saying that Pops is my real father?” He knew it was a rhetorical question but he asked anyway.
“Yes, you are my biological son. The blood that runs through my veins also runs through yours.” Alberto said calmly.
“You two sure know how to keep secrets. Daddy you cheated on mommy with our maid?” Catalina was too out done with her parents at the moment.
“All this time I wondered who my other family was. I wanted to know who my father was and I knew him all along. That's crazy huh?” He chuckled a little but wasn't a damn thing funny.
“Baby...” he raised his hand to stop her from speaking.
“All this time you raised and took care of your husband's love child. Is that why you named me Amante? Meaning 'lover' you wanted a reminder of what he did to you. I actually applaud you though because not a lot of women will take care of their husband's bastard child.”
Angelina head snapped up at those words. “Stop it...you stop it now!” she walked over to him pointing a finger directly at him.
“You are mines! You are my son dammit. I took care of you and raised you because you are my child. She may have birthed you but your mines. I love you no matter how you were created or brought into this world. As soon as I laid eyes on you and held you in my arms I promised to love you forever. My heart beats every time I look at you and your sister. You complete our family Amante. You are my Prince and no matter how mad or pissed off you are with us that will never change. We will never stop loving you.” Angelina cried.
She didn't bother to wipe the tears away because they were coming down too fast. Amante stood up in front of her and swallowed hard. He had tears in his eyes but none dared to fall. He wrapped his strong arms around her hugging her tight.
“I love you.” He said then kissed her on the forehead.
“I never want to hear you call yourself a bastard again.” She said squeezing him tight.
He let go of her shaking his head. He then walked around her and stood beside his father's bed.
“I love you, Pops. I just need time to process all of this right now.” He walked out of the room door without saying another word.
“Amante...”
“No Angelina...he needs time and we need to give that to him.” Alberto said to his wife.
Catalina and Olivia sat there stuck on what to think or do. The news they just heard was a lot to take in at once.
Amante walked down the hall to the nurse's station that sat on that floor.
